Man charged following crash at roundabout which killed workman

A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident while four others were taken to hospital.

A man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on the A82 in Dumbarton last year.

Emergency services were called after a BMW 3 Series car struck five men who were working on the grass verge by the road near the Lomondgate Roundabout.

A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident which occurred around 8pm on Monday, May 9, last year.

Four others were taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 44-year-old man has now been charged in connection to the incident and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

The employee who lost his life in the crash worked for Amey plc., an infrastructure services and engineering company.

A spokesperson for the firm said at the time: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that one of our employees died in a road traffic accident on the A82 yesterday. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues.”
