STV NewsA man has been charged and a BB gun has been seized after armed police locked down a street in East Ayrshire.
Emergency services, including more than seven police vehicles and a fire appliance, were called to Dean Road in Kilmarnock around 4.30pm on Friday.
A man was reportedly seen with a firearm in the area.
On Saturday, police confirmed a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident at a property on the street.
A BB gun was recovered at the scene.
STV NewsThe man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.30am on Friday, July 31, 2026, we were called to a report of a man seen in possession of what appeared to be a firearm in Dean Road, Kilmarnock.
“Officers attended at a property there and a 30-year-old man was later arrested and charged in connection. A BB gun was recovered.
“He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, August 3, 2026.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
