A man has been charged after a death in North Ayrshire sparked a major murder investigation.
Alan Lawson, from Saltcoats, died in hospital on February 6 following an assault at a property on Alexander Avenue in Largs.
Following the 36-year-old’s post mortem, a murder investigation was launched.
Detectives launched an online portal where information, pictures and videos could be sent directly to the team.
It came after “content reportedly connected to the investigation” was shared on social media.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death and is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, February 20.
Police said that a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
