Man charged after teen shop worker threatened with knife in robbery

Police said a further two incidents were reported in Greenock and that a 40-year-old man had been arrested.

A man has been arrested and charged after a teenage shop assistant was threatened with a knife during a robbery in Greenock. 

The incident occurred at the USAVE convenience store on Lynedoch Street in the town around 7.30am on Friday. 

A 19-year-old shop worker was threatened before a four-figure sum of cash was taken. 

Police were later alerted to a second incident, also on Friday, on East Crawford Street. 

A third incident was reported to officers on Sunday on Lyndoch Street. 

Police confirmed that following enquiries a 40-year-old man had been arrested and charged. 

He is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
