Man charged after 'reckless' use of jet ski on Loch Lomond

A man has been charged in connection with incidents of “reckless” use of a jet ski on Loch Lomond.

Police say the incidents happened on Sunday, June 21, Tuesday, June 23, and Wednesday, June 24, near Luss pier.

A man has been charged with culpable and reckless conduct as a result.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Colin Cameron said: “Loch Lomond is a shared space for everyone to enjoy respectfully. We work closely with the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority to keep it safe for all users.

“Anyone operating personal watercraft irresponsibly or unsafely, or in a way that disrupts others, will be identified and dealt with.

“Anyone with concerns or information should contact us via 101.”

Leigh Hamilton, ranger service manager with Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, said: “Our role is to ensure that all loch users enjoy this special place together, in harmony with the natural environment and the local communities who are proud to call the National Park home.

“Unfortunately, a concerning increase in reckless behaviour presents a real risk of injury or worse. As we have previously communicated, this behaviour will not be tolerated. When it persists, further action will be taken by us and our partners at Police Scotland to prevent this reckless behaviour and protect public safety.

“We’re grateful for the support of Police Scotland and we strongly urge all users to enjoy the loch safely, responsibly and respectively.”
