Man runs from police after cannabis worth £10,000 found in car

He was chased by officers on foot and apprehended before the police seized the Class B drug.

A man ran away from police after they recovered £10,000 worth of cannabis from the car he was driving in North Lanarkshire.

Shortly before 6.30pm on Wednesday, officers from Police Scotland’s road policing team stopped a vehicle on the A73, near Auchenkilns, Cumbernauld.

As soon as the car stopped, the driver ran off from officers.

He was chased on foot and apprehended before the police seized the Class B drug and unopened containers.

Police Scotland said that a 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. 

He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 27, 2023
