A man has been charged over the alleged assault of a police officer during a protest in Glasgow.
Footage posted on social media showed protesters, some dressed in black and others wearing masks, facing police on a street in the east end of the city on Wednesday night.
Chants of “Glasgow’s had enough” and “send them home” were heard, with a heavy police presence at the scene.
Parkhead Cross in the east end was closed, with roads such as Tollcross Road, Duke Street, Westmuir Street and Springfield Road affected.
Roads later reopened, though a police presence remained in the area.
On Thursday, police confirmed a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a police assault in the Westmuir Street area as crowds gathered.
A statement read: “The officer did not require medical treatment and the group later dispersed.”
