A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the discovery of a body at a flat in Glasgow.

At around 3am on Tuesday, police and forensic teams were seen outside the property on Aberfoyle Street in the Haghill area of the city.

Officers confirmed a 44-year-old man had been pronounced dead at the scene but an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident was ongoing.

A 55-year-old man was arrested and later charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Detective inspector Chris Thomson, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time and they are being provided with support by specialist officers.

“There will likely be a police presence in the area as our investigation continues and I would like to ask anyone who can assist with our enquiries to please contact Police Scotland by calling 101, quoting incident number 0260 of 20 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
