A man has been charged after a lorry crash on the A77 near Kilmarnock.

The incident occurred on the busy dual carriageway at around 1.30pm on August 20, between the Bellfield Interchange and the Grassyards Interchange.

One vehicle, an HGV lorry, was involved.

Police were forced to close the northbound carriageway due to the incident.

The B7073 London Road was also closed in both directions to drivers and pedestrians at its junction with Wellpark Avenue and Billy Bowie Park.

Police have confirmed no one was injured in the incident.

A man has been charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

A police spokesperson said: “The A77 northbound, Kilmarnock and the B7073 London Road at its junction with Wellpark Avenue and Billy Bowie Park have reopened following a one vehicle crash.

“Police were called to the scene at around 1.30pm on Thursday, 20 August, 2026.

“No injuries were reported. A man was charged in connection with a road traffic offence.”
