A man has been charged after heroin worth £95,000 was seized by police in raids across Lanarkshire.

On Tuesday, officers raided multiple premises in Catherine Way, Taylor Avenue, and Sherry Avenue in Motherwell, as well as in Arbuckle Road in Plains.

Police confirmed heroin with an estimated street value of £95,000 was recovered and more than £20,000 in cash was seized.

A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

He was released and is set to appear in court at a later date.

The force is urging anyone with information regarding drugs in their area to come forward.

Detective inspector Scott Robertson said: “This is a significant recovery which will impact heavily on those involved in this type of criminality.

“This operation underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“I’d urge anyone who has concerns or information about the sale and supply of drugs in their area to contact Police Scotland via 101.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
