A man has been charged after a seven-year-old girl was struck by a car in an alleged hit-and-run in Kilmarnock.
Emergency services were called to the collision on Sunnyside Road at the junction with Shortlees Road around 1.55pm on Sunday.
A seven-year-old girl was taken to Crosshouse Hospital as a precaution, police said.
Now, police have confirmed a man has been charged in connection with road traffic offences.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man has been charged in connection with road traffic offences following a crash involving a car and a child pedestrian which happened on Sunnyside Road at the junction with Shortlees Road, Kilmarnock on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
