Man charged after cyclist seriously injured in ‘hit-and-run’ Police Scotland

A man has been arrested and charged after a cyclist was seriously injured following an alleged hit-and-run in South Lanarkshire.

Mark Richards was cycling along Spittal Terrace between Cambuslang and Blantyre when he was struck by a car at around 11.25am on Saturday, April 24.

The 50-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he was treated for serious spinal injuries.

On Monday, Police Scotland confirmed that a 34-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
