A man has been charged after crashing a stolen Amazon delivery van into a police car following a pursuit in East Ayrshire.
Officers attempted to pull a stolen Ford Transit delivery van over on North Hamilton Street, Kilmarnock, at around 1.10pm on Sunday. The driver failed to stop, and a chase began.
The car was involved in a collision with a marked police car before being stopped on the A71.
A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.10pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025, we received a report of a Ford Transit delivery van stolen from North Hamilton Street, Kilmarnock.
“Officers attended and the driver failed to stop for officers on Portland Street, Kilmarnock.
“A vehicle pursuit took place, during which it was involved in a collision with a marked police car. The van was brought to a stop by road policing officers on the A71 at Kilmarnock.
“A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, June 2, 2025.
“A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
An Amazon spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we’re aware of the incident and are helping the police with their inquiries.”
