A man is to appear in court after a body was found in a burnt-out flat in Dumfries and Galloway.

Officers were made aware of a fire at a property on Lady Street in Annan around 6.55am on Tuesday, November 19.

Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

The body of a 58-year-old man was found within.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
