A man was caught with two stun guns disguised as a USB stick and a torch.
John Trewinnard, 53, was held after a search of his flat in Battlefield, Glasgow, in October 2019.
One of the weapons was initially found in a tub on a coffee table.
Prosecutor Sheena Fraser said it looked like a large USB device, but discharged electricity when pressed.
Trewinnard stated: “I have never been a violent person in my life.”
Police went on to find another stun gun disguised as a torch. Trewinnard said he got the items around five years earlier.
Ms Fraser: “He stated that he had never removed them from his home.”
He also apologised for one of the weapons discharging when an officer handled it.
Trewinnard – who appeared via video link from prison on Friday admitted at the High Court in Glasgow to possessing the stun guns.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to appear at two earlier hearings.
Lord Turnbull deferred sentencing until December 14 in Edinburgh.
