A man who hurled racist abuse at a Taco Bell and was caught with a knife has been handed a deferred sentence.
Ryan Stewart, 23, made the remarks to customers at the restaurant in Glasgow city centre on April 23 2024.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Stewart was initially shouting and swearing at 6.15pm.
He stated: “I will f***ing slash you, come outside you P**i b******.
“I will kick your head in outside b******.
“Come on outside you P**i b******.”
Customers decided to leave the Taco Bell due to Stewart’s behaviour.
Prosecutor Lauren Sangray said: “Stewart was seen to be in possession of a knife and a bottle.
“The police were contacted immediately and Stewart left the restaurant.”
Stewart was later located by officers on the road outside and he was identified by the customers.
He was searched and the knife was retrieved from his trouser pocket but the bottle was not located.
Stewart pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was aggravated by prejudice related to race, colour nationality or ethnic or national origins.
On Wednesday, sheriff Louise Arrol KC put Stewart on a structured deferred sentence until February next year.
