A man has been arrested after a flat was set on fire and two people were attacked on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to Mill Road in Cambuslang at around 4.05pm after reports of a 41-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl being assaulted. Both were taken to hospital following the attacks.
A man later barricaded himself within a flat, which was then set alight. He left the property via the balcony.
Several nearby properties were evacuated due to the blaze.
A man, aged 34, has been arrested in connection with the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, police received a report of two women being assaulted in Mill Road, Cambuslang.
“Emergency services attended and two women, aged 41 and 16, were taken to hospital.
“A man barricaded himself within a flat and a fire was set before he left the flat via the balcony.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Several properties were evacuated as a precaution. Inquiries are ongoing.”
