A man attacked his sister with a picture of their dead father after his funeral.
George Kinnear, 49, assaulted the 55-year-old at their mother’s home in Glasgow’s Corkerhill on June 20 last year.
The incident took place three years after Kinnear was jailed for an assault with intent to rob at a convenience store, which was thwarted by a grandmother.
Kinnear demanded cash from a staff member, who leapt over the counter to attack him.
The man’s aunt, then 63, assisted in pinning down masked Kinnear as they waited on police to arrive.
An elderly customer also helped in removing the weapon from Kinnear, who was jailed for 30 months for the incident.
Kinnear was found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court of his latest offence of assaulting his sister to her injury.
The charge says Kinnear, of the city’s Craigton, approached her in an aggressive manner, clenched his fist and attempted to punch her.
The papers go on to say he repeatedly punched her on the face, striking her on the hand as she covered her face.
Kinnear went on to repeatedly kick her on the legs, throw a photo frame at her, repeatedly punch her on the arm and chest, as well as repeatedly punch her on the head and neck.
The trial heard from the woman, who stated that the family had attended a pub after the funeral.
She went home with their mother and was later joined by Kinnear.
The woman said the atmosphere was good at first, but an argument took place with Kinnear, who was drunk.
The argument was stated to be about someone attending the funeral.
She told the court that Kinnear went on to “attack me.”
She said: “He hit me with something – it was a picture of my dad right at my head.
“I tried to attack him back and clawed his face.”
She later described her brother “being on top of me.”
She also said that Kinnear “threw punches” at her.
Kinnear was stated to have put his hand up and told her: “You better stop.”
The sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Collette Gallagher.
