A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run which killed male pedestrian.
James Craig died after being struck by a black Mercedes A class car around 12.40am on October 27, 2024, on the A723 near Quarry Street.
The 70-year-old was crossing the road when he was hit by the car which then made off.
Following his death James’ family paid tribute to the “wonderful man”.
In a statement shared through Police Scotland, they said: “Our beloved Dad and Papa was a bright light in our lives so full of love, energy, and kindness. It’s hard to believe he’s been taken from us far too soon.

“We were blessed to have him, and we know his warmth and laughter touched so many. The messages and support from family and friends have brought us comfort in this painful time, and we want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out.
“Your kind words mean so much as we remember the wonderful man he was and the love he brought to us all.”
Police Scotland has since confirmed that a 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing and those with information have been urged to come forward.
A spokesperson from the force said: “A 35-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into a fatal road crash on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
“The incident happened around 12.40am on Quarry Street, Hamilton. Emergency services attended and pedestrian James Craig, aged 70, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The 35-year-old was arrested in connection with road traffic offences.”
