A man has been arrested over the death of a woman in Glasgow.

Brodie MacGregor, 23, was pronounced dead by emergency services who had been called to the property on Elmvale Street in the Springburn area at around 10.15am on Monday.

Detectives launched a murder investigation following the results of a post-mortem examination.

Police Scotland confirmed a 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

The force said enquiries were continuing.

Earlier, detectives set up an online major incident public portal (MIPP) in a bid to encourage potential witnesses to share information regarding the death.

They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area between 4.30am and 10.30am on Monday and saw anything suspicious.

Detective chief inspector Lynsey Watters said: “Our thoughts remain with Brodie’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We are providing them with support as our investigation continues to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We would again urge anyone who may have any information to get in touch. Any information, no matter how small, could be vital in establishing what happened to Brodie.

“A police presence remains in the Springburn area as our enquiries continue and I would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak with these officers.
