A man has been arrested and a road has been closed following a crash in Ayrshire which left a power cable damaged.

Officers were called to reports of a one-vehicle crash at around 10.25am on Tuesday, on the A77 near Bankfield Roundabout in Ayr.

One man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences following the incident, and no injuries have been reported.

The road will remain closed until Scottish Power engineers fix the broken power cable.

Drivers have been diverted via Alloway with Traffic Scotland urging motorists to rejoin the A77 after Maidens via Dunure A719 and Turnberry A719.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.25am on Tuesday, September 13, police were called to the A77 near Bankfield Roundabout, Ayr, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.

“One man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

“The road is currently closed until Scottish Power can attend, due to damage to a power cable.”
