Man arrested and pensioner in 'critical condition' after Porsche crash

A 72-year-old man is in a critical condition after a crash on the A714 near Pinwherry, at around 4.20pm on Saturday.

A pensioner has been left in a critical condition and two men are in hospital after a two-car crash in South Ayrshire.

Road policing officers were called to the A714 near Pinwherry, Girvan, at around 4.20pm on Saturday after a a grey Porsche GT and a red Renault Scenic were involved in a collision.

Emergency services attended and a 72-year-old man, the driver of the Renault, was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse with serious injuries.

His condition has been described as critical.

The driver of the Porsche, a 51-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and his passenger, a 41-year-old man, sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to University Hospital Crosshouse.

Officers confirmed the 51-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

He is due to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “Our enquiries into the full circumstances of the crash are continuing and we are asking anyone with information that could assist officers to get in touch.

“In particular if you saw the vehicles before the crash or have dash-cam then please make contact with us.”
