A man has been charged after a South Lanarkshire health centre was locked down following the discovery of a ‘suspicious package‘.
On Thursday, emergency services were called to Victoria Street in Blantyre around 9.30am following the discovery within the grounds of the town’s health centre.
Officers evacuated the building and the surrounding premises as a precaution.
The item was assessed and confirmed to pose no risk to the public.

Police have now confirmed a 53-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with threats towards the health centre.
He is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.
