A man has been arrested and charged in connection with several acts of vandalism in Glasgow.

Graffiti stating that the ongoing conflict in Gaza is a “real holocaust” was pictured on a monument in George Square.

Further incidents were reported on Argyle Street.

Police have now charged a 46-year-old man in connection. He has since been released and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with vandalism incidents in George Square and Argyle Street on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

“He was released on an undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

At least 28,064 Palestinians have been killed and 67,611 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.
