A 24-year-old has been arrested after the “tragic” death of a man found injured at the side of a main road in Argyll and Bute in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Jimmy Harris, from the village of Taynuilt, was the victim of an alleged hit and run on the A85 at Kirkton.

Police were called at 1am but when emergency services arrived on the scene the 61-year-old was pronounced dead.

Detective inspector Scott Hamilton said Mr Harris’ family were “devastated”.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the suspected hit and run.

DI Hamilton said: “Our thoughts are with Jimmy’s family and friends at this time, as they come to terms with their tragic loss.

“Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we continue to appeal for anyone with any information to please come forward.”
