A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in East Kilbride.
The 50-year-old man was struck by a Volkswagen Golf on the A725, on the northbound carriageway between the White Moss and Whirlies roundabouts, at around 8.30pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 40-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, was not injured in the collision.
Police confirmed that the driver has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences as enquiries continue.
The road was closed to allow a police investigation take place and has since reopened.
Sergeant Andy Currie, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone with information or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area on Friday evening.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3647 of September 23.”
