A man has been arrested after a bomb squad removed a “suspicious package” from a street in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were called to investigate at Mansion Court in Cambuslang at around 9.20pm on Tuesday after a package was discovered.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) were called to the scene.

Officers confirmed that a 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.20pm on Tuesday, November 15, officers were called to Mansion Court, Cambuslang where a suspicious package was discovered.

“EOD attended and made the item safe before removing it for examination.

“A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.”
