A person has been arrested after the body of a man was found inside a property in Motherwell.

Emergency services were called to an address on Watson Street around 8.10am on Monday following reports of concern for a person.

A 55-year-old man was found dead within.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and has been released pending further enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 8.10am on Monday, December 16, to a report of a concern for a person in the Watson Street area of Motherwell.

“Emergency services attended and the body of a 55-year-old man was found within. His next of kin are aware.

“A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and released pending further enquiries.”
