Man arrested after armed police cordon off streets and evacuate homes

Road closures were put in place on Caldercuilt Road and on Arrochar Street after a disturbance on Monday morning.

A man has been arrested after armed police cordoned off streets and evacuated homes in Glasgow due to a disturbance.

Specialist resources, including firearms officers, attended a property as a precaution on Drumlaken Street at around 9.50am on Monday.

Nearby properties were evacuated, and road closures were put in place on Caldercuilt Road, between Arrochar Street and Rothes Drive, and on Arrochar Street at Drumlaken Street.

A 56-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Police confirmed roads which were closed have since reopened and nearby residents who were evacuated have returned to their homes.

Sergeant Jono Adams said: “I’d like to thank the local community for their support and patience while officers were in attendance.

“While enquiries remain ongoing, there is no longer disruption to the area and no wider risk to the public.”
