Man appears in court charged with rape of 15-year-old at football pitch

A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in the bushes at a football pitch in Oban.

Emergency services were called to a serious sexual assault near Mossfield Avenue, at Mossfield Stadium, at around 11.15pm on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Cameron Laird was arrested and charged in connection.

The 25-year-old, from Argyll and Bute, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, charged with rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He made no plea and was granted bail.
