A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a “hit and run” in Dumfries.
Emergency services were called after a man was struck by a car on Criffel Road, near to Lincluden Road at around 11.20pm on Saturday.
The man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Four days after the incident, police confirmed a 29-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection.
Declan Carlton appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, charged with assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.
The 29-year-old from Dumfries made no plea and was remanded in custody.
He is due to appear in court again within eight days.
