A man has appeared in court after two paramedics were attacked in Glasgow.

Two ambulance workers were attacked in the Cambusdoon Road area of the city at around 4.35pm on Saturday, June 3.

The extent of their injuries and their current condition is unknown.

Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the attack.

The Scottish Ambulance Service “strongly condemned” the assault, saying that paramedics should be able to work “without fear”.

A spokesperson said: “We strongly condemn violence against our staff.

“They have the right to carry out their work helping patients and saving lives without fear of assault or abuse.

“We will work with Police Scotland to take action against perpetrators.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault on two people in the Cambusdoon Road area of Glasgow around 4.35pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

“He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, June 5, 2023.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Scottish Labour’s deputy leader Jackie Baillie said that “more work should be done” to protect emergency service staff on the frontline.

She added: “Everybody deserves to feel safe at work, and it is simply wrong that our frontline staff are being subjected to dangerous working conditions.

“There needs to be more work done to protect staff and ensure they can carry out lifesaving work free from the threat of harm.”
