Man in court after armed police cordon off streets and evacuate homes

Road closures were put in place on Caldercuilt Road and on Arrochar Street after a disturbance on Monday morning.

A man has appeared in court after armed police cordoned off streets and evacuated homes in Glasgow due to a disturbance.

Specialist resources, including firearms officers, attended a property as a precaution on Drumlaken Street at around 9.50am on Monday.

Nearby properties were evacuated, and road closures were put in place on Caldercuilt Road, between Arrochar Street and Rothes Drive, and on Arrochar Street at Drumlaken Street.

A 56-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday, Steven Mullen appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with assault and threatening or abusive behaviour.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will next appear before the court within eight days.
