A man and a woman have been taken to hospital following a stabbing in South Ayrshire.
Police were called to reports of an assault within a flat in North Shore Road, Troon, at around 8.35pm on Saturday.
A 56-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were thereafter taken to University Hospital Ayr for treatment.
Police confirmed the incident was a stabbing, and officers are following a “positive line of inquiry”.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 8.35pm on Saturday, August 8, officers were called to a property in North Shore Road, Troon, following reports of an assault.
“A 49-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man were taken to University Hospital Ayr for treatment.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of inquiry.”
