Police are hunting a group of youths after a man and woman were found injured on the street in Renfrewshire.

The man, 24, suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old woman sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment following the incident, which happened on Linburn Road in Erskine at around 2am on Sunday morning.

Police described the youths as being aged 16 to 17 and all were wearing dark clothing. They are believed to have made off in the direction of Lamont Farm.

Detective constable Kate Wason, from Paisley CID, said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this unprovoked assault and we are very keen to trace the individuals responsible.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the attack who may have seen what happened to get in touch, including any drivers who might have dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation.”
