Two people were arrested after police were called to reports of a person carrying a firearm on a bus in Aberdeen yesterday.

Armed police attended the incident just after 1pm on Wednesday on Union Street, in Aberdeen city centre.

A 28-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A BB gun was recovered and police have advised here is no greater threat to the community.

The two are set to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a bus passenger in Aberdeen city centre carrying a firearm at around 1.15pm on Wednesday, 4 May, 2022.

“There were no injuries reported. A BB gun was recovered and there was no greater threat to the community.

“A 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the incident. They are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday, 5 May, 2022.”
