Man and toddler rushed to hospital after being hit by train

The child's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening while the man remains in a serious condition.

A man and a two-year-old child were rushed to hospital on Sunday night after they were both hit by a train.

A huge emergency service response was called to Garrowhill station in Glasgow shortly before 7.30pm on July 2 after receiving reports of two casualties on the tracks.

An adult man and a toddler were found on the tracks and were rushed to hospital where they both remain.

The British Transport Police said: “Both people sustained injuries from being hit by a train. The child’s injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, and the man remains in a serious condition.

“Detectives are investigating the full circumstances of the incident and believe there were a number of people on the platform at the time who may have witnessed what happened.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened and hasn’t already spoken to police is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 with reference 564 of July 2.”
