A man and a dog were rescued during the night after falling from a dinghy at Loch Lomond.

Loch Lomond Rescue Boat, alongside Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, were called out at around 11.50pm on Saturday night after they received a call that a man had fallen from a dinghy near Rowardennan

A search of the area was carried out, and the inner floor of a dinghy was recovered from the water.

Following updates from the public it was established the man had been seen getting back into the dinghy and headed south.

Rescue Helicopter R199 found a man taking shelter underneath a dinghy with a dog attracting attention within the treeline near Ross Isles.

Both casualties were safely recovered and brought onboard the Loch Lomond rescue lifeboat, which returned to its base at 2.55am.

A spokesperson for the Lomond Rescue Boat said: “Following a quick assessment the male, along with his dog and vessel, were safely recovered and brought onboard the lifeboat before being transferred to emergency service colleagues at Rowardennan.

“LLRB crew stood down & returned to base at 02:55.”
