A man has been “seriously injured” and his dog attacked by a gang with weapons at a property in Rutherglen.
Police were called to reports of a man and a dog having been attacked by a group of men, armed with weapons, within a property in Skye Road around 12.10am on Tuesday.
A 50-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and then transferred to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he is being treated for a serious hand injury.
The dog, believed to be a Cane Corso, is being treated at a local veterinary clinic.
It is understood that Police Scotland is investigating potential links to the ongoing gang war across the country.
Police have made more than 50 arrests during Operation Portaledge after violence across Scotland’s central belt.
Officers say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
