A man accused of murdering a granddad near his home allegedly fled to Liverpool to avoid detection.
Sean Murray, 30, appeared in court accused of assaulting James Greenhorn, 61, in Glasgow’s Tollcross on February 9, 2026.
Court papers state Murray pursued Mr Greenhorn and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a knife.
The charge goes on to say Murray, of the city’s Shettleston, repeatedly punched and kicked him on the head and body.
A second allegation states that Murray attempted to pervert the course of justice between February 9 and 11.
It is claimed that Murray boarded a train from Edinburgh Waverley train station to Liverpool.
The charge says this was done to avoid detection, arrest and prosecution for the murder allegation.
Murray – who was represented by his lawyer Peter Malone – made no plea at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Murray was remanded in custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff Mary Shields.
He will appear again at court within the next eight days.
