Man, 91, dies in hospital after being hit by truck near Rutherglen business park

A 91-year-old man has died in hospital after he was hit by a truck near a business park in Rutherglen.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance, were called to Ballochmill Road following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a truck at around 11.25am on Tuesday.

The pedestrian, a 91-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, with police later confirming his death on Wednesday.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash, and we are continuing to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to contact Police Scotland, quoting reference 1194 of September 29.”
