A man has died after he was knocked down by a lorry in Ayrshire on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the A76 near New Cumnock following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and white DAF articulated lorry at Castle around 3.45pm.
An 85-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was not injured.
The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 12.20am on Friday.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”
Police Scotland is urging those with information to call 101, quoting incident number 2385 of Thursday, May 1.
