A 77-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Irvine.
Police were called to the scene on Eglinton Street at around 3.10pm on Monday to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a white Mini Cooper Clubman.
He was taken to Crosshouse University Hospital, where she has been left in a serious condition.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to make themselves known at this time.
The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 7.15pm.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart, from the Ayrshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances, and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
“We are also asking anyone driving in the area at the time to check their dash-cam to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
