A man has been left with life-changing injuries after an alleged disturbance in a Rutherglen flat.
Emergency services were called to the property on Gallowflat Street at around 7.30am on May 30.
STV News understands that a 72-year-old man was taken to hospital and has been left with life-changing injuries following the incident, including a broken nose, broken ribs and required 56 stitches.
He is still in hospital receiving treatment after having five strokes.
Officers have charged a 52-year-old in connection with the disturbance.
He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on June 1.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.30am on Saturday, May 30, 2026, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Gallowflat Street area of Rutherglen.
“Emergency services attended, and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, June 1, 2026.”
