A man has died in hospital after falling ill at Celtic Park.

Celtic beat Austrian side LASK 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League play-off on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the stadium after receiving reports of a man taking ill within the stadium at around 9pm.

The 65-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he died shortly after.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.05pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 police received a report of a man having taken unwell within Celtic Park, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a 65-year-old man was conveyed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he died a short time later.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”

Celtic have been contacted for comment.
