A man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked with a bladed weapon on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man at around 6.50pm on Camis Eskan Wynd in Helensburgh.
The 51-year-old was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment. Detectives believe the victim was attacked by another man carrying a bladed weapon.
The suspect is described as white, mid 20s, around 6ft tall and of slim build. He may have been travelling in a small dark coloured SUV type vehicle.
Detective Sergeant Vicky Shanley at Clydebank CID, said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack on the victim and it’s vital we trace the person responsible.
“I’d ask for anyone who saw what happened, has any information about the incident, or who recognises the description of the suspect, to come forward.
“If you have dashcam, doorbell or private CCTV footage from the Cardross Road area around the time, please review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2754 of March 2. Alternatively, information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
