A man is to appear in court after the golf courses and clubhouse at Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire were vandalised.

The golf resort near Girvan was targeted by vandals in the early hours of the morning on March 8.

Red paint could be seen daubed over the clubhouse while the greens were dug up and marker flags pulled down.

The Trump Organisation, which Donald Trump owns, operates the luxury golf resort.

The vandalism was blasted as a “childish, criminal act” by Trump Turnberry.

A 33-year-old man has been charged on Friday in connection with the incident.

He was initially arrested on March 12 and is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.

It comes after police said on Wednesday a 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were arrested following enquiries in Oban. Both were released.

Officers said enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland statement read: “A 33-year-old man has been charged on Friday, March 28, 2025, in connection with damage to a golf course at a premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry.

“The damage was reported around 4.40am on Saturday, March 8, 2025, and the 33-year-old was initially arrested on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

“He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, March 31 2025. Enquiries are ongoing.”
