STV NewsA man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in East Ayrshire.
Emergency services were called to reports of an injured woman within a property in Newmilns at around 12.20pm on Tuesday.
High Street in the village was cordoned off and residents were told not to leave their homes. Local businesses were also asked to shut.
Michelle Thomson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 47-year-old’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
