Police have charged a male youth in connection with alleged bomb threats to a secondary school in South Lanarkshire.

On Monday, a social media account claimed that “explosives” had been planted at Calderglen High School in East Kilbride.

Police carried out searches of the school and deployed sniffer dogs to find any explosive material.

The force confirmed that “nothing of concern” was found.

Officers have charged a male youth in connection with the incident. He will be reported to the relevant authorities.

Chief Inspector Paul Doyle said: “A male youth has been charged in connection with a malicious communication sent to a high school in East Kilbride on the morning of Monday, 7 September, 2026.


“He will be reported to the relevant authorities.”
