A crash on the A82 near Balloch has left a 65-year-old man in hospital with “serious” injuries.

Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses after a collision just south of the Stoneymollan Roundabout at Balloch on Thursday, January 11, at around 11.45am.

The incident involved a 75-year-old male driver in a black Mitsubishi Outlander car and a 65-year-old male cyclist on the Renton bypass on the A82.

The cyclist was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to be treated for serious injuries while the driver was uninjured.

The road was closed southbound until around 6.15pm as police investigated the scene.

Sergeant Archie McGuire, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our investigation into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnessed it or who has any other information to come forward.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage, in particular anyone who was travelling southbound between the Stoneymollan and Lomondgate roundabouts around the time of the collision.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1128 of January 11, 2024.”
